Rotherham Mr B, from Rotherham, recovered a substantial amount of compensation following an accident at work. The client had the misfortune to lose his right arm as a result of operating a defective scrap metal machine. The machine should have been fitted with guards.
As a result of the serious injuries sustained, ASD referred the client to a consultant in prosthetics and an orthopaedic surgeon. The client was fitted with the latest prosthetic arm paid for by the insurers for the employer.
Richard Meggitt, part of the Serious Injury Team at ASD, had to issue Court Proceedings after the insurers denied liability. After securing an admission of liability the claim was settled shortly thereafter.
The client managed to continue working for the Rotherham employer after his role was changed, despite the significant injuries sustained.
