Richard practised as a barrister at the Nottingham Bar between 1973 – 1980. Richard qualified as a solicitor in 1980 and established the firm in Sheffield in 1984. He has specialised in personal injury litigation over the last 35 years.
Ralph Clark

Ralph joined the firm in 2003 and became Managing Partner in 2018.
Ralph’s background is in health and safety. He graduated with a degree in Environmental Health in 1998 before qualifying as an Environment Health Officer. He then specialised in the enforcement of health and safety and accident investigation within premises in Sheffield. He completed a post graduate diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management, before then undertaking a post graduate diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course, qualifying as a Solicitor in 2007.
Over the years Ralph has developed a case load primarily of high value catastrophic injury cases arising from major trauma and diseases; spanning brain injuries, amputations and life changing injuries and diseases. He also assists Children who have suffered serious injury through the partnership between the MTSP and the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Chris joined the firm as a solicitor in 2008. He was previously employed by Irwin Mitchell solicitors in criminal law. He has more than 15 years’ experience in personal injury litigation, dealing with a wide range of cases, including low-value Road Traffic and employer’s liability cases, higher-value cases and court work. He enjoys advocacy and often represents clients at Court.
Grace Newbold

Grace joined ASD in 2017, completing her training contract with the firm. Grace has been the first point of contact for clients in all types of cases – road traffic accidents, accidents at work and public liability accounts.
Grace gained a degree in Criminology and Psychology before becoming a qualified Solicitor. Grace completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and then Legal Practice Course. She then gained experience working in Child Protection Law before joining ASD.
Grace has experience dealing with various types of personal injury cases and has handled claims from initial instruction all the way to successful trial. Grace also has gained experience dealing with high value multi-track cases.
Grace undertakes advocacy at the County Court on behalf of Clients, dealing with PAD applications, quantum disputes and infant approvals. She also assists the victims of crime through the Criminal Injury Compensation Authority (CICA).
