The festive period is typically thought of as a time for celebrating with friends and loved ones.
Sadly, some of us miss out on the joy of Christmas. At Sheffield Children’s Hospital, hundreds of children have to spend the festive period on a ward each year. Although many are upbeat and happy, some struggle, particularly throughout the festive period.
Every year, staff at Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital are committed to brightening the lives of these children. They transform the hospital by lighting it up with snowflakes, which are kindly donated by local businesses in Sheffield.
These donations also raise crucial funds for the hospital’s Emergency Department. Thanks to these generous donations, the department has increased its capacity from 32,000 children to a potential 60,000. The Snowflake Campaign helps the hospital cope with this increased demand. It funds larger wards and waiting rooms as well as more staff, making the children’s experience that much better.
The snowflakes, made from Sheffield steel, cost between £500 and £6,000 to sponsor. Last year the hospital raised over £250,000 – a truly magnificent effort. This year, the team at Accident Solicitors Direct wants to help them raise even more. We’re proud to say we’ve sponsored a snowflake, which will be displayed with our name on it to show our support for such a great cause.

The Sheffield Hospital team switched on the snowflakes on the 2nd December. We had a great time at the switch on and it was great to see so many people supporting the hospital. We’re looking forward to building on last year’s success and making even further improvements towards this integral children’s ward.
