Employers have a legal responsibility for the health and safety of their employees. If your employer doesn’t abide by health and safety regulations and you are injured at work then you have a right to make a claim for compensation.

There are a variety of types of accidents that can happen in the workplace if employers don’t take responsibility for their employees and these can be due to any number of reasons. Work accident injury claims can be made if you have experienced an injury as a result of a number of situations such as defective safety equipment, inadequate safety training, inadequate premises, spilt liquids, and substandard facilities and the resulting injuries can be anything from irritating aches and pains to trauma injuries and in some cases death.

Making work accident injury claims is not an easy process. There are a few basic steps that you need to take to ensure that you’ve done everything correctly…

Seek medical advice

It is important to ensure that you seek medical advice about your condition. A doctor’s certificate will assist in your claim by proving that you suffered injuries as a result of a workplace accident and that you took appropriate measures to deal with your injury.

Witness statements and accident books

If there were witnesses present at the time of the accident, it is important that you take down their names, telephone numbers and addresses. Workplace accidents are supposed to be recorded in an accident book and you must make sure that accurate details have been written down, describing how the accident took place and that you were not to blame for the accident.

Seek legal representation

In order to prove liability and obtain the highest level of compensation possible, you need to enlist the services of experienced work injury lawyers. There are many firms which offer representation in personal injury cases, so check around to see what different firms are able to offer you. Work injury lawyers have specialist knowledge of personal injury law and will often be able to handle your claim and won’t charge you unless your claim is successful which means you won’t suffer any financial loss for pursuing your claim.
