Our client, a machine operative from Nottingham, was injured in a road traffic accident whilst cycling to work. As a result of the accident, he suffered a significant injury to his shoulder. The severity of the shoulder injury was such that Mr S of Nottingham was unable to return to work full time.

ASD Solicitors had to issue Court proceedings before the insurers for the motorist conceded liability. Richard Meggitt, Solicitor in the Serious Injury Team, managed to secure a settlement of £92,500. The insurers had previously offered only £50,000; numerous other offers were rejected until the final offer was made a number of weeks before a Court hearing. Settlement was reached only when an orthopaedic surgeon at the Queens Medical Centre, who specialises in upper limb injuries, was able to give a final opinion.

Despite the fact that following surgery our client made a good recovery he does have on going pain and weakness in his right shoulder. He will be handicapped on the open labour market and is likely to have to retire early. Mr S said “ASD were great, a Solicitor came to my home the same day as my initial telephone call. They kept me informed throughout and advised me to reject a number of offers made by the insurers until agreement was reached. I cannot thank Richard enough”
